Hi:
I'm Lawrence Arthur Barrett, Ex Class of 1945/Graduated Class Of 1947 (returning World War 2 Combat Veteran - USMC S/Sgt), formerly of 8 Cemetery Street. Younger brother of E. Eileen Barrett (Snow), class of 1937, older brother of William Franklin Barrett, class of 1947 (Buzz was Treasurer of the graduating class), older brother of Richard Allan Barrett, class of 1949 (Died In October 2004).
I left town in September 1947 when I was unable to get a leave of absence (loa) from Draper Corporation (Charles Shannahan, supervisor of the Photo Section of the Engineering Department would NOT agree to the loa), to attend the School of Modern Photography, New York City. After graduation from Photo School in NYC I became a portrait photographer with the American Photgraphic Corporation in March 1948.
Entered the US Air Force Aviation Cadet Pilot Training, August 1949. Following several active duty tours, Korea Combat - Special Forces; Viet Nam (in the Air Staff & Secretriat)20 years of active duty, I left the USAF as a Colonel, 1Dec1978. Qualified in gas turbine (jet), single & multi-engine, rotorcraft (helicopters), instrument flying. During a 12 year Ready Reserve Officer/Pilot, I was a helicopter test pilot (Kaman Aircraft), & Senior Marketing Rep (Sikorsky Aircraft).
After retiring from the USAF, was the International Marketing Manager (Pacific Rim & Far East Asia) with Republic Aircraft, Fairchild Industries. High school teacher, Aerospace Science & Leadership Education in California. Retired in Sep 1992. Presently doing family research, & eventually write a book of my life.
Married Eleanor Anna Kaethe Lang in 1952. Son - Lawrence, OralMaxFacialSurgeon, finished 20years US Navy as a Captain, Dental Corps, now civilian OMS; Dau - Shawn, ParaLegal, etc; Dau - Heidi PysEd Dept Chair/Coach; & Son - Todd, Web Site Creator.
Lawrence (known as Butch), & wife Linda - 2 daughters & 2 sons [oldest dau & oldest son to attend dental school in 2007] - younger son biz major as well as younger dau. Shawn & Tom - no children. Heidi & Stephen - 3 daughters [1 chief administrator at a law school; 1 wholesale marketing mgr; & 1 graduate architect]. Oldest dau married - no children. Todd & Janaya - no children. My Eleanor is a published poet, linguist (German, French & English), prose author, computer whiz, former airline stewardess who grew up in Europe.
