Introduction by Fran Elliot (Phillips)
My father loves to write poems, if he met you for 10 minutes - he would write a poem about you. He is retired and 80 years young. He loves the computer and spends many hours a day and in the middle of the night on it. One day I had received an e-mail that was on the theme "Do You Believe In Jesus". If you believe in Jesus you will forward this poem to several people. I forwarded the poem to my father and he responded by writing the following poem. The end of the poem refers to my deceased brother, Edward J. Phillips who passed away in 1978 at age 20. He graduated from HHS in 1976. We all miss him.
Where I stand with God
Fran, did you know, My name is in his book He's got me down as the girls go by As the guy who never looked.
That guy up there, don't miss a trick He sees me all the time, if it weren't for Him I'd be quite thin. And my poems would never rhyme
He also has me on page two. As the guy who never sinned. I asked Him if I'd go to Heaven. You should of seen him grin.
Then He spoke, His voice was choked. Of course I'll let you in. He said you won't have many friends. There's only one I really new. Your loving son is here with me He's been waiting long for you.
