2006 Guest Book

No matter where I've lived, east/west coast I always compare it Hopedale. "It isn't Hopedale" is usually what people hear from me when they ask if I like where I live at the time. Memories of walking down the street and knowing who lived in each house. Greeting someone and having that greeting returned with a smile. Those things just doesn't happen in most places unless you grew up in a small town like ours. Its the little things that make Hopedale special. Friends who will always be your friend no matter how far you travel,who will still recall your nickname and use it each time you greet. To all my friends, I wish you well.

My name is Susan Hall Buffkin and I grew up and went to school in Marion, SC. I was in the class of 1969. During my 6th grade year, a family moved to Marion from Hopedale, MA. That family was the Johnson family. Mark Johnson was my age, so he was in my class. We were pretty much in the same classes. We were very good friends and I hated to see him move. He used to call me 'Jo' or 'Josephine', my middle name. We had a lot of fun together. Anyway, he moved back to Hopedale in 1967/1968 and we talked and wrote each other for a while, then we lost touch. Whenever we have a High School Reunion, we always wanted to get Mark to come to one of them. He was part of our crowd.
